Corner House has held a strong place in Mysuru after its successful establishment in Bengaluru and happens to be one of the first brands to come here before any of the giants came. Since then it has created its own niche of sundaes and shakes. A hangout spot for many which has this place always occupied at any given time of the day.
Location: There are two outlets of this place, first one at Jayalakshmipuram and the other in Kuvempunagar. While the former sits at the corner the later contradicts its own name.
Ambience: Both the outlets are brightly lit and well ventilated. They have a welcoming vibe and easily attract the crowd. The Jayalakshmipuram outlet fails to accommodate the crowd with its minimal number of seating, but the new outlet has a decent and bigger seating area.
Food: The place has a variety of different flavors of ice cream, numerous sundaes and thick shakes. They serve in-house ice creams and chocolate sauce is to die for! Anything and everything to satiate ones sweet tooth.
Their sundaes are something that really gets the crowd going. I initially started off with the cherry jubilee then switched to caramel pudding and now to truffle cake with ice cream. These three sundaes are totally different from each other in terms of the base flavors and each does justice to its name. They are quite generous with their toppings too which is a huge plus point.

One of the most loved sundae is the Death by Chocolate popularized by the term DBC. Now this is every chocoholic’s dream! Ice cream with chocolate cake topped with hot chocolate sauce and loaded with nuts and cherries.
I would like to give a special mention to the cakes too which are moist and soft and provide a rich affair for the hungry heart. One must try the cake sundaes that are offered here.

Now one of the things that has gone down over the years is the sloppy whipped cream which is a work of a lazy chef who hasn’t completed his work. The cream is just a blob on your beautiful sundae and just does not belong there. There are better outlets in its maiden place (b’lor) which haven’t let their quality down and that standard should be maintained in all the outlets.
The thick shake also stands to its name and one can choose from a decent number of options covering all the basic flavors. I have personally tried the mango shake but found the quantity to be less considering its cost.
Must Try:
- DBC
- Trilogy
- Caramel Pudding
Service: This place works on the concept of self-service and hence you get your order in a jiffy. The ice creams are served in plastic bowls regardless of a takeaway or not. Now this is something that the management should look into, and provide alternatives to avoid the huge addition to the garbage they are doing on a daily basis.
Verdict:
Taste:4/5
VFM:3.5/5
Ambience:3/5
